blue2

This quilt I designed for a wedding present for somebody who liked blue and cream tones. My first born daughter crawled all over it while I tried to piece it together. The offcuts of material were from an upholstery department. Fabric used for upholstery is very hard wearing and very heavy fabric. While this may not be ideal for conditions in Australia, this suits my English family very well.

purple2

This was one of the very few quilts I parted with for money, mind you the price I charged I may as well have given it away. A neighbour fell in love with it when I was making it. The middle panel is actually cord wrapped and hand sewn (as most of my quilts are) into place, using a celtic knot design. I really liked the colours in this one and is one of the ones I wished I still had.

pink2

This one I gave away as a wedding present to a relative, she really liked pink. The center panel was again created by twisting cord into a pattern, celtic once again, and hand sewing in place. There is quite a mix of fabrics in this quilt / doona cover. I used to regularly visit a recycling venue that had offcuts from fabric companies. Many times a whole design came from one little scrap of material.

celtic

This one I really loved the colours of, I gave it to my sister. Unfortunately it does not match her husbands idea of a colour scheme, so it is only allowed out for visitors. Oh well can't please everyone. The celtic patterns were formed with bias binding.

This quilt I made specifically for my parents, it has very thick wadding in it for cold winter nights. The whole design was based on a silk scarf that forms the center panel. Around all the features I attached cord to give a very three dimensional effect. although You can't see the outer layers they all have fringes and are varying shades of purple and blue.

This quilt is pretty special, I started making it when I was pregnant with my first child. I finished it when I started doing public healings. I called it my manifestation quilt. The images are elephants, lions and giraffes all cut out and hemmed and then sewn to the gold fabric. The center piece is an egyptian style embroidery. I felt that this stage of my life had ended so the new wallhanging I am currently creating will take its place on the wall. I gave this quilt to a local hospital to be raffeled to raise money.

This quilt / doona cover was heaps of fun to make. I made it as a thankyou present for the wife of the man who provides all my computing needs. This lady loves teddy bears, so the middle teddy I took its stuffing out and put in the middle and then on each corner of the quilt I affixed little teddies with velcro, so they could be removed for washing.

lion smile

These two images are of the same quilt. I made two sides so that as my niece grew she could have a change of scenery on her bed.

This was the first quilt I made for my parents, all of it was sewn by hand as I travelled and worked my way around Australia, it must have taken two years I think to complete.

wall

This wallhanging was made during my fabric painting stage. In retrospect it would have been better to paint on a tan coloured fabric to match the wall hanging I made for it, however it is easy to design in retrospect. Friends in Mildura were creating a mudbrick house that was more like a palace. They had been building it for about 15 years and to celebrate them moving in I gave them the wallhanging.

This latest wallhanging was inspired by stained glass which I love, the design is actually from a book called Australian Patchwork by Margaret Rolfe. I have made four panels and they actually cover a kingsize bed area. They have all been made as separate units so I can hang separately or together in rented houses where hooks can't be put in. In the future I intend to make one of the same style, only all the edges of the peices will have to be embroidered as it is so intricate but it will be the same size so I can mix and match with the one here. I have at last got wise I am keeping the best for myself finally.
